Books

I've written a few books.

Rethinking Fandom: How to beat the Sports-Industrial Complex at its Own Game. Available here or wherever fine books are sold.

Rethinking Fandom is a fundamental reevaluation of how to be a sports fan.

The idea: sports fandom isn’t what it used to be, and it's certainly not what people assume it has to be. Team owners and executives increasingly count on our blind loyalty but too often act against the team’s – and our – best interest. From intentionally tanking a season in order to get a high draft pick, to scamming local governments to build cushy new stadiums, to actively subverting the players' lives and livelihoods, what now passes for business as usual in professional sports is nothing approaching admirable.

In Rethinking Fandom, I argue that we as fans have more power than we realize to change how our teams behave and call for a radical reexamination of what it means to be a fan in the twenty-first century.
